8171 BISP Electricity Subsidy Program Objectives:
• Direct electricity relief for low-income households.
• Reduce the financial burden of electricity costs on vulnerable communities.
• Ensure subsidy delivery to deserving segments through integration with the Benazir Income Support Program database.

Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Inclusion
Pakistan’s government plans to integrate electricity subsidies with the Benazir Income Support Program due to its verified database, transparency, and efficiency. The digitalized poverty-based database will prevent undeserving individuals from receiving subsidies, while automatic adjustment based on ID card and meter numbers will streamline the subsidy distribution process.
How Will the Electricity Subsidy Program Under BISP 8171 Operate?
The Benazir Income Support Program links beneficiaries’ identity cards to their household electricity meters, which are then cross-checked by distribution companies on a monthly basis. If the unit consumption is less than 200 and the ID card verification process is completed, an automatic bill discount is applied to the beneficiaries.
